COLA Report 2

Flux Correction and Equilibrium Climate

Edwin K. Schneider

April 1994

Abstract

A source of error and uncertainty in climate prediction is pointed out. It is noted that if the current climate is out of equilibrium, then flux correction schemes are forcing the current climate to the wrong equilibrium. The result of this choice could be incorrect model sensitivities and prediction errors that grow in time.
